Praise and Worship – A Believer’s Spiritual Snack

For a believer, Bible reading and Prayer are important.

Yes. But that is not all. Praise and Worship is important too, but it is something that many of us tend to skip.

I have heard Pastors and Leaders say that bible reading and prayer is the food to our soul. We need to do it just the way we take our meals – thrice a day. Agreed!!

In reality, just meals do not keep us going. I do not know about others, but I definitely need to keep snacking in between my meals to keep my going – a fruit here, some chips there and so on..

It sustains me till my next meal.

Growing children and teenagers in their growth spurt need constant feeding and snacking to keep them going.

‘Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation’

1 Peter 2:2 (ESV)

As born again children of God, we need to constantly crave and hunger for His spiritual milk. Just as a snack sustains the body till the next meal, Praise and Worship can be a snack that will definitely give you strength till the next meal time of Prayer.

 My tongue will proclaim your righteousness, your praises all day long. 

Psalm 35:28

 I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.

Psalm 34:1

 

Praise means thanking the Lord for all that He has done for us, and loving Him more than the blessings that we get from Him.

Worship means to give all the respect, honour and glory to the Lord for what He is.

Why is praise and worship important?

• It is pleasing to the Lord
• we claim our everyday blessings
• we were created for this reason
• it sets the bondages free
• it is a command from the Lord

This is how we will experience the presence of God in our lives.

How can we praise and worship?

We can praise Him with anything and everything that we have.

It is okay if we do not have instruments or a good place to sit and worship. I even do it while driving.

All that matters is the truth and the devotion in your heart when you praise and worship. You can sing, clap, dance, use the instruments, go down on your knees, bow, and lift up your hands, jump and do so much more.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 

1 Peter 2:9
